It's Official: 'catching Fire' Is 2013's Box Office Champ - Fashion Labels

katnis2photo: lionsgate. All hail the Girl on Fire. Last week, Katniss Everdeen stormed past Tony Stark as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire surpassed Iron Man 3 to become the top-grossing film of the year. With a whopping $409.4-million domestic haul, Catching Fire becomes the 13th highest-grossing film ever domestically, after its seventh week in release. But, perhaps most notably, it marks the first time a film with a solo female lead ruled the box office since The Exorcist did it in 1973.

Internationally, Catching Fire is nowhere near the haul of Iron Man 3, but there's little surprise there, since comic-book movies have long been our most popular cinematic export. But, that shouldn't reign on Lionsgate's parade. The studio now has back-to-back $400-million films thanks to the franchise that Jennifer Lawrence built. And, withMockingjay — Part One due in November, and the final film coming in 2015, it's safe to say the studio has a couple more juggernauts en route. Happy times over at Lionsgate, for sure. Here's What HBO Has Planned For You in 2014

Dress Like One Of The girls — The Show's Costume Designer Tells Us How - Fashion Labels

Many of our must-watch TV shows haven't returned yet from winter hiatus (cough, Scandal, cough), and our ho-hum Sunday night lineup could certainly use a jolt now that Homeland is finito 'til next fall. Which is why we're overjoyed to welcome back our favorite band of Brooklynites. Yep, Hannah, Marnie, Jessa, Shoshanna, and Co. are returning once more for season three of HBO's Girls tomorrow night — oh, and did we mention how excited we are? We're itching to see how lovestruck Marnie handles Charlie's abrupt departure after season two's fairy-tale-esque finale. And, what's to become of the rekindled romance between Hannah and Adam? Is Shosh's hair going to become its own character? Okay, okay, we're getting ahead of ourselves. Needless to say, we're sure wunderkind Lena Dunham has more than a few plot twists up Hannah's wrinkled, possibly stained sleeve.

In the meantime, though, we sat down with Jenn Rogien, the show's costume designer, for a sartorial sneak peek at what we'll find in the foursome's closets this time around. Anxious to get the scoop on this season's fashion forecast? Click through for plenty more of Rogien's expert insights and our styled looks to match, then tell us: Which of these outfits best suits your personality?

Skin Rx: How To Care For Your Complexion When You're Sick - Fashion Labels

ColdSkin_1Illustrated by Ammiel Mendoza. When it comes to our faces, we don’t rely on just anyone to tell us what our skin needs to get that ever-elusive glow. Instead, we turn to skin-care veteran (and celebrity fave!) Renée Rouleau, who knows it takes more than the right products to get radiant. Each week, she’ll be serving up her expert tips to keep your complexion in tip-top shape.

Along with the freezing cold weather comes, well, actual colds. And, even if it's not the flu, you're likely suffering from compromised immune system. A worn down body, over-the-counter meds, and just blowing your nose for the umpteenth time can all affect the skin negatively (hi, chapped nostrils!) — and in a big way. So, if you’re feeling under the weather and are home sick with a cold, here are my expert tips to keep your skin looking its best. After all, when you look better, you feel better, right?

Use a humidifier in your bedroom at night.
Whenever the air is dry, it looks for moisture wherever it can get it — and that means robbing it from your skin. Along with decongestants that dehydrate the skin, dry air from indoor heating systems will leave your skin especially parched. Using a humidifier in your bedroom at night will help keep moisture in the air, which will maintain the hydration levels in the skin and keep it feeling comfortable.

Tech That Never Took Off: 10 Great Ideas That Ultimately Failed - Fashion News

It's tough out there in the tech world. As CES wrapped up in Las Vegas yesterday, there were some clear winners and not just a few losers for the future of tech. But, even the predictions of the many can be wrong. Remember (the Nexus Q?) Exactly.

We collected 10 of the most-hyped gadgets and services from the last five years — from iTunes Ping to Twitter's flat-lining music app — that haven't performed as hotly as expected. That's not to say all of them are incapable of being revived. (The Microsoft Kin might be dead and buried, but there's hope for the Ouya.) As of right now, however, they certainly aren't winning the market.

Click through to see what made the ignominious cut. And, sorry in advance if you own any of them. itunesping

Boozing With Tina! The Best Golden Globes Drinking Game - Fashion Labels

That special time of the year is upon us, where we gather 'round our TVs and watch outrageously rich celebrities give long-winded speeches, congratulate themselves, and get plastered on bubbly. Fortunately for us, NBC has made the right decision and brought back two of our favorite people in the whole wide world to host the show: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Like last year's event, the former SNL stars will bring their trademark banter and general hilarity to the proceedings, making the nine-hour run time feel like a mere four hours. Also like last year, the two have recently updated their very own Golden Globes drinking game with a few helpful tips in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter. (Among their excellent suggestions: Anytime you see a gown with sleeves, you're going to drink). In keeping with the Fey and Poehler spirit, we've created our own list to add to theirs. Shia Labeouf To Retire From Public Life, Whatever That Means - Fashion Labels

shia_embedPhoto: REX USA/Camilla Morandi. Another day, another bizarre twist in the ongoing saga that is Shia LaBeouf. After a streak of increasingly odd behavior that's led some observers to question the actor's sanity, LaBeouf tweeted yesterday that he's going to lay low for a while. A very long while. "In light of the recent attacks against my artistic integrity," he wrote, "I am retiring from all public life."

In case you've just come back from a month-long trek through the Himalayas, and you're totally baffled by what that cute kid you loved in Even Stevens is talking about, let us catch you up to speed. Late last year, it was revealed that LaBeouf plagiarized his short film HowardCantour.com directlly from the book Justin M. Damiano by Daniel Clowes. He then plagiarized his apology to the author from a Yahoo Answers Page, hired a plane to facetiously write, "I Am Sorry Daniel Clowes" across the L.A. sky, and most recently, tweeted a copy of the cease-and-desist letter sent to LaBeouf by Clowes' attorney.

No one really knows what the impetus is behind the actor's latest transgressions, but according to LaBeouf's tweet, he was simply expressing himself artistically. He followed his retirement tweet with, "My love goes out to those who have supported me" and "#stopcreating." Apparently for LaBeouf, creating means stealing other people's work and not giving them due credit, but we digress. Have fun in retirement, Shia. We hear Florida is amazing this time of year. Can This 1 Tool Really Create 4 Different Styles? - Fashion News

We're not the types to be satisfied with just one way to style our hair. As a result, we're running out of room in our cabinets for our multitude of heat styling tools. Ever on the quest for a solution, we came across this multipurpose tool from Remington. The brand claims you can create four different looks with just a single ceramic wand. One product to get everything from spiral curls to straight locks? Sounds too good to be true. So, we had our own Annie test it out. Watch as she tries each setting to see whether or not this product delivers.
